The Office of Long COVID Research and Practice works across the U.S. Government to coordinate the whole-of-government response to the longer-term impacts of COVID-19 including Long COVID and associated conditions.
History
On April 05, 2022 President Biden issued the Presidential Memorandum and Fact Sheet. These documents asked the Secretary of Health and Human Services to coordinate a whole-of-government response to the longer-term effects of COVID-19, including Long COVID and associated conditions. To do this work Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Rachel Levine created the Long COVID Coordination Council. The Council includes representatives from fourteen federal agencies. Together they published The Services and Supports for longer-term Impacts of COVID-19 - PDF and The National Research Action Plan - PDF reports. These reports lay the foundation for the whole-of-government coordination. And today the Office of Long COVID Research and Practice, in partnership with federal agencies across the U.S. government, continues to make progress toward the goals outlined in those reports.
